Life-changing Endometriosis Excision with DualPortGYN: Michelle’s Story

Michelle struggled with progressively worse rectal bleeding with her cycle for nearly 3 years. She consulted three different doctors, none of whom recognized the signs of ‪endometriosis. Rectal bleeding is not usually a sign of a GYN condition, but for Michelle it coincided with her monthly cycle. It was still a sign that the doctors dismissed. She got to the point where she was seeing a doctor once or twice a week, going between all three.

“I thought I was dying. No one could figure out what was wrong.”

Michelle had almost given up hope. Then at a very low point, she heard HOT 99.5 DJ Danni Starr talk about CIGC and decided to call right then.

“I had heard the commercial many times before, but this time I called, desperate. I remembered saying ‘You are supposed to be the experts and I need help."

Michelle scheduled her appointment with CIGC’s endometriosis specialist Dr. Paul MacKoul.

“When I talked to Dr. Paul MacKoul, he didn’t blink an eye. He said that he had seen this before and that most likely there was endometriosis on my bowels. I finally felt like someone was willing to help me.”

MINIMALLY INVASIVE ENDOMETRIOSIS EXCISION WITH DUALPORTGYN

Dr. MacKoul performed DualPortGYN surgery to remove endometriosis. The surgery was complex as the endometrial implant was large, and had fused the uterus to the bowel. It turned out Michelle also had fibroids. In addition to minimally invasive endometriosis excision and hysterectomy, Michelle’s bowel had to be repaired with an enterolysis procedure.

DualPortGYN was developed by minimally invasive GYN surgeons of CIGC Dr. Paul MacKoul, MD and Dr. Natalya Danilyants, MD to achieve better surgical outcomes for patients. With this innovative approach, safe GYN surgery is possible with only two 5 mm incisions and 1 week recovery time.

“You have to take your healthcare into your own hands,” Michelle said. “When you struggle through multiple doctors and can’t find any answers, it’s important to find a specialist.

Thank you for sharing this crucial information. Although I experienced pain that started in my teen years intermittently then became persistsnt in my middle years monthly, my doctor knew and taught me how to manage endometriosis. Today I am pain free.
